This just about made my week.
How sweet!
Switching it up from my usual Peets Sumatra.
Such fresh, fresh oysters that were meticulously cleaned, firm and flavorful. My friends and I split two dozen of an assortment of oysters. In addition, I ordered a combination seafood cocktail and my friends each tried a bowl of clam chowder. One of the guys offered us a piece of smoked salmon, which was the best I've ever tasted—not fishy or slimy in the least. The seafood cocktail had highs and lows. The two oysters on top—which were different from the ones in the combination platter—which a little bland, but the cocktail shrimp and crab were especially grand.
The line to grab a seat at the family-run counter restaurant really builds up over the day, so it's best to go early. Yay, Swan Oyster Depot!

I am somewhat charmed by the box's content. This week it was lettuce, beets, carrots, apricots, pluots, tomatoes, and summer squash.
The only mystery to me is how should we eat the summer squash? I've never cooked squash before, and these are much smaller than the ones I think I've seen in the store. Suggestions, anyone?
I love Yamo! My favorite is the House Cold Noodles. Sweet, spicy, garlic, onions, and chicken over a chewy bed of noodles. Josh got curry tofu over noodles. I had never had it before but also delicious. Prices have gone up from $5.25 to $6—but still worth it. Yes, a million times yes!

Aside from that: perfect cocktails. Great night.

Even though the caption clearly says the location is New York, it still brings strong memories of adventures in dead Chicago winter. Then again, blinding cold is a place of its own. (Perhaps more optimistically known as a Winter Wonderland—or five steps beyond it.)
